Cyril H. Fortkamp , 83, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died on July 29, 2011, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio. He was born September 10, 1927, in Celina, OH, to the late Henry H. Fortkamp and the late Mary A. Homan. On January 10, 1953, he married the late Mary Ann (Bruns) Fortkamp, who died May 28, 2009.
Surviving are 5 daughters - Carol (Steve) Dahlinghaus of Maria Stein, OH, Marlene (Les) Kaiser of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Mary (Larry) Rindler of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Diana (Don) Schoenlein of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Marge (Mark) Vogel of Fort Recovery, Ohio; 4 sons - Fred (Barb) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Paul (Ginny) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Ohio, John Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Jim (Julie) Fortkamp of Bryant, IN; 4 sisters - Rita Zehringer of Coldwater, Ohio, Rosie May of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Bernice Poling of Coldwater, Ohio, Alice (Eugene) Steinke of Wapakoneta, Ohio; 4 brothers - Vincent (Jean) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Henry Jr. (Arlene) Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Ohio, Lavern (Elaine) Fortkamp of Dayton, Ohio, Ralph Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Ohio; 33 grandchildren and- 16 great grandchildren.
He was employed at the former New Idea, Coldwater, OH, Equity Exchange, Fort Recovery and was a retired farmer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3324, American Legion Post 345, Social Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Fort Recovery, Fourth Degree member of St. Gasper del Bufalo Assembly, Minster, Ohio, National Farmers Organization, and served on the Wabash River Conservancy District. He was also a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and it's Holy Name Society, Sharpsburg, Ohio.
Funeral mass is 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio, Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Monday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Tuesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will be 7:50 pm Monday at the funeral home.
