Darwin Jack Harter

Darwin J. Harter, 89, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died September 30, 2013, at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio.
He was born September 7, 1924, in Salamonia, IN, to the late Walter Harter and the late Lulu Bibler. On September 7, 1952, he married Doris Granger, who died October 29, 1990. On July 2, 1995, he married June Schultz, who died in 2001. Surviving are son - E. Mack (Melanie) Harter of Fort Recovery, OH; 2 daughters - Elizabeth (Alvin) Lehman of Berne, IN, and Jackie Harter of Fort Recovery, OH; a twin brother - Donald Harter of Fort Recovery, OH; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Also deceased are a brother, Duane Harter and two grandchildren.
He graduated from the former Madison High School, Madison Twp. IN and served in the Army Air Corps.
He was retired from Teledyne Forge, Portland, IN and was the caretaker for Salamonia Cemetery, Salamonia, IN.
He was a member of the American Legion, Fort Recovery, and Church of the Nazarene, Fort Recovery.
Services are 10:30 am Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Dennis Kelley officiating. Burial is at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 4:00 pm-8:00 pm Thursday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery and 9:30 am-10:30 am Friday at the church.
