Delores D. "Dolly" Hemmelgarn, 83, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died May 4, 2017 at her residence.
She was born November 21, 1933, in St. Marys, OH, to the late John and Rosa (Kramer) Siefring. On November 13, 1956, she married Tom N. Hemmelgarn, who survives.
Also surviving are their children, Tom J. Hemmelgarn of Chatsworth, GA, Jim (Teresa) Hemmelgarn of Sidney, OH, Joe Hemmelgarn of St. Marys, OH, Jean (Danny) McHugh of Lewis Center, OH, and Tony (Kimberly) Hemmelgarn of Wichita, KS; her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; her sisters, Pauline (Leo) Kunk of Tucson, AZ and Barb Winner of Osgood, OH; her brother, Willie (Monica) Siefring of Louisville, KY; sisters-in-law, Pauline Siefring of Decatur, IN, Ruth Siefring of St. Marys, OH and Marjorie Siefring of Powell, OH; in-laws, Marlene Knapke of Coldwater, OH, Dave (Georgia) Hemmelgarn of Lewisburg, OH, Bill and Mary Hemmelgarn of Portland, IN and Nancy Hemmelgarn of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Joseph; her siblings, Larry (Joy) Siefring, Laurena (Webb) Frilling, Mary (Lloyd) Heitkamp, Harold Siefring, Paul Siefring and John Siefring; two brothers-in-law, Virgil Bergman and Gene Winner; and in-laws, Larry Hemmelgarn and Jerry Knapke.
Dolly was the owner-operator of Hemmelgarn Shoes, Fort Recovery, for many years. Every body knew Dolly and loved her. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Fort Recovery. Dolly was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, OH and the church's Ladies Guild.
Dolly loved interacting with children. They were all precious in her sight and made her smile. Her favorite past times were playing cards, cooking and fishing, especially when the fish were biting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 pm Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, with Fr. Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
Calling is 1:00 pm-6:00 pm Sunday and 12:00 noon-12:45 pm Monday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
