Donald E. Muhlenkamp, 89, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died May 6, 2017 at his residence.
He was born January 2, 1928, in St. Anthony, OH, to the late Edmund and Rosella (Uhleman) Muhlenkamp. On May 7, 1949, in St. Joe, OH, he married Dorothy ((Westgerdes)) Muhlenkamp, who survives.
Also surviving are their eleven children, Linda (Carl) Guggenbiller of Celina, Shirley (Steve) Grevenkamp of St. Henry, Joyce (Michael) Lamm of Celina, Patricia (Daniel) Besecker of Dillon, MT, Sue (Doug) Huelsman of Chickasaw, Jan (Steve) Adams of Coldwater, Ed (Tracy) Muhlenkamp of Greenville, OH, Tom (Doris) Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery, Ralph (Kathy) Muhlenkamp of New Weston, OH, Luke (Tammy) Muhlenkamp of New Weston, OH, Laura (Jeff) O'Dell of Fort Recovery; their thirty-six grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren; his siblings, Thelma (Dave) Barga of North Star, OH, Ruth Hardin of Sarasota, FL, Marge Paulus of Celina, Mary Jane (Carl) Obringer of Fort Recovery, Ken Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery, Dave (Marcia) Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery, Connie Andrus of Dublin, OH, and Judy (Jerry) Schulze of Celina; a brother-in-law, Pat McClurg of Versailles, OH; in-laws, Ruth Westgerdes of Fort Recovery, Rosella "Sally" Muhlenkamp of Coldwater, Arnold Westgerdes of Fort Recovery, and Naomi Maynard of Oxford, MA.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris (Jerry) Schafer, Vera (Don) Alig, Virginia McClurg, and Alice Muhlenkamp, his infant sister; brothers-in-law, James Paulus, John Hardin and Thomas Andrus; sister-in-law, Carolyn Muhlenkamp, and in-laws, Norbert (Mildred) Westgerdes, Juliana (Norbert) Wellman, Clarence Westgerdes, Wilbert (Marcella) Westgerdes, Andrew Westgerdes, Irene (Ray) Kahlig, Robert Muhlenkamp, Joseph Maynard, Viola Westgerdes, and infant in-laws, Rolandis, Mary Agnes and Mary Alice Westgerdes.
Donald was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, OH, the church's Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus Council 3324, Fort Recovery. He was also a member of the National Farmers Organization and served on the Darke Rural Electric Board of Directors for 27 years.
Donald was a life long farmer who loved the seasons and working the ground. He took great pride in his family farm and growth of the farm. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and never knew a stranger. His knowledge and sense of humor will be greatly missed..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, with Fr. Ned Brown officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Tuesday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Wednesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. The Knights of Columbus will have a prayer service 7:50 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
