Donald M. Harter

Donald M. Harter, age 96, of Fort Recovery, passed away on December 24, 2020 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana.
He was born September 7, 1924, in Salamonia, IN, to the late Walter and Lulu (Bibler) Harter. On June 28, 1959, he married the late Betty (Pyle) Harter, who died September 17, 2000.
Surviving are nephew, E. Mack (Melanie) Harter of Fort Recovery; and two nieces, Elizabeth (Alvin) Lehman of Berne, IN, and Jackie Harter of Fort Recovery.
Also preceding him in death are his twin brother, Darwin (Doris) Harter and also a brother, Duane Harter.
Donald was a 1943 graduate of the former Madison High School, Jay County, IN and then served in the US Army. He was employed forty years at the former Sheller Globe, Portland, IN and then worked at the Fort Recovery Industries for almost thirty years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery and attended the First Church of Christ and Church of the Nazarene, both of Fort Recovery.
Due to COVID 19 concerns, a private graveside service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Fort Recovery.
