Edward J. "Bud" Ahlers, 82, Burkettsville, Ohio, died on November 4, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio. He was born November 26, 1928, in St. Henry, OH, to the late Edward Ahlers and the late Elizabeth Uppenkamp. On December 27, 1952, he married the late Catherine "Katy" P. Ahlers, who died November 8, 2001.
Surviving are son - James (Brenda) Ahlers of Tipton, IN; daughter - Kimberly (Michael) Tracey of Celina, OH; 3 sisters - Betty Jane Buening of Coldwater, OH, Betty Lou Buening of St. Henry, OH, Armella (Gerald) Yaklin of Riviera, TX; brother - David (Judy) Ahlers of St. Henry, OH; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Phillip Ahlers, a grandson, and an infant brother, Joseph Ahlers.
He retired from J&M Manufacturing, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 345, in which he served in the Honor Guard and Color Guard and was also a member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6515, both of Fort Recovery. He was also a member of the Progressive Sportsman Club, Fort Recovery, Ohio and St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, Ohio.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 am, Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, Ohio, Burial is at St. Bernard Cemetery, Burkettsville, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Monday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Tuesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
