James Moneysmith, 88, of Union City, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at IU Health Jay Hospital, in Portland, Indiana.
He was born on November 8, 1933, in Jay County, Indiana, to the late Adrian and Laura (Imel) Moneysmith.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (Stump) Moneysmith on July 17, 2019, whom he married on December 22, 1957; his siblings, Adrian Moneysmith, Jr., Ester (Richard) Shawver, Wilma Page, Everett Moneysmith, and Dwanna Rowles-Axe; and his brothers-in-law, David Brinkerhoff and Steven Rowles.
Jim served honorably in the United States Army. After he was discharged, Jim returned home and began doing what he loved, farming. He also enjoyed raising cattle and showing them at local shows. Jim liked to hunt and collect Indian arrowheads and toy tractors.
Jim is survived by his children, Brenda (John) Weiss of Union City, Ohio, and Bruce (Diane) Moneysmith of Union City, Ohio; his 6 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Brinkerhoff; his sister-in-law, Nancy Moneysmith; and his brothers-in-law, John Page and Bob Axe.
A celebration of Jim's' life will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, with Pastor Bruce Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Fort Recovery.
Guests may visit with his family on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at noon.
