John S. Brown, 87, New Weston, Ohio, died March 1, 2013 at his residence.
He was born October 19, 1925, in New Weston, OH, to the late Lincoln Brown and the late Lucy Sargent. On February 7, 1948, he married Florence (Malin) Brown, who survives.
Also surviving are son - Ralph (Terrie) Brown of Charlotte, NC; daughter - Melissa Yates of Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Deceased are a sister, Betty Ary, and a son-in-law, Bill Wenz.
He was a 1943 graduate of the former Jackson High School, Union City and attended Ohio State University.
He retired as an electrical engineer from Fram Corporation, Greenville, Ohio.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served on the USS Franklin CV-13 which was the most decorated ship of WWII. He was a member of American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery, Ohio, Fram Retirees, Greenville, St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio and it's Holy Name Society. He also attended yearly reunions of the USS Franklin CV-13 and was a avid fisherman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, the Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Monday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Tuesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
