Levi Shope

Levi Shope, 82, Portland, IN, died at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN.
He was born July 11, 1928, in Vanceburg, KY, to the late Rotch Shope and the late Clarisa Vance. On April 4, 1975, he married Mary Jo (Huelsman) Lennartz Shope, who died December 15, 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Rotch (Laurinda) Shope of Portland, IN, and Kenneth (Gail) Shope of Muncie, IN; two step sons, Albert (Ann) Lennartz of Boone, Iowa, and Herbert (Linda) Lennartz of Westville, IN; four step daughters, Marguerite (William) Krein of Kettering, OH, Paula Lennartz of Portland, IN, Tina (Bill) Bechtol of Fort Recovery, OH, and Denice Theurer of Fort Recovery, OH; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren, and 21 step great grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Mabel Peed, four half sisters, Idella Lewis, Stella Swain, Olive Scott, Margie Snider, and a half brother, Morton Skidmore.
He was employed as a lineman for Jay County REMC, was a carpenter for Deaton Construction Co., Portland and was a maintenace worker for Bearcreek Farms, Portland, IN.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and is a member of American Legion Post 211, Portland, IN. He belongs to the Fellowship Baptist Church, Portland, IN. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, with the Rev. Hugh Kelly officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery, Ft. Recovery, OH .
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. till services on Thursday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
