Marie A. Pottkotter , 49, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died December 5, 2014 at her residence.
She was born July 31, 1965, in Coldwater, OH, to the late Ernest Hemmelgarn and MaryAnn (Thieman), who survives in St. Henry, OH. On February 17, 1990, she married Joseph Pottkotter, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Aimee Pottkotter, Paige (Dillan) Schulze, Claire Pottkotter, Natalie Pottkotter, and Brianne Pottkotter, all of Fort Recovery, OH; a son, Grant Pottkotter of Fort Recovery, OH; two granddaughters, Danielle and Rebecca Schulze of Fort Recovery, OH; four brothers, Jerry (Janet) Hemmelgarn of St. Henry, OH, Phil (Terri) Hemmelgarn of Anna, OH, Pat (Gloria) Hemmelgarn of St. Henry, OH, and Chuck (Lori) Hemmelgarn of Maria Stein, OH; two sisters, Teresa (Brad) Burckholter of Celina, OH and Marilyn (Les) Pottkotter of Fort Recovery, OH; father-in-law, William "Bill" Pottkotter of Fort Recovery, OH; six in-laws, Don (Anne) Pottkotter of Celina, OH, Dale (Lois) Pottkotter of Carthagena, OH, Dennis (Pat) Pottkotter of St. Henry, OH, Della (Don) Wermert of St. Henry, OH, Dan (Ruth) Pottkotter of Coldwater, OH, and Ted (Lori) Pottkotter of Fort Recovery, OH;
Also deceased are her son, Elliott and mother-in-law, Virginia Pottkotter.
She was a 1983 graduate of St. Henry High School and then received an Associates Degree in Nursing from the Upper Valley J.V.S., Piqua, OH.
She was employed as an L.P.N. at Mercer Health Pediatrics. She was previously employed for many years at Dr. Dabis's Pediatric office in Celina, OH. Also, she was a MaryKay Beauty Consultant.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe, OH and it's Altar Sodality. She also was a member of the Ohio Nursing Association, the Wendelin Sports Club, and was a 4-H Advisor for the Fort Pioneers, Fort Recovery,OH. Her family was her pride and joy, and she took great admiration in all their accomplishments. Her passion for helping children, fellow employees and new parents, brought great joy to her work day. Along with her loving husband, Joe, Marie taught their children about faith in God, as well as how to cook, clean and sew..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe, Ohio, with Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Monday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Tuesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
Contributions can be directed towards the wishes of the family. Contribution envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
