Mary Helen (McConaha) Meiring, 92, Fort Recovery, passed away on March 14, 2017 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, OH.
Mary Helen was born on May 26, 1924, in Fort Recovery, to William, Sr. and Melva Grile McConaha. On June 20, 1946, she married Richard J. Meiring, who died on June 20, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Wesley (Barbara) of Starkville, MS. and Robert William (Karen) of Fort Recovery; six grandchildren, Jason Meiring, Allison Alexander, Laura Dempsey, Jill Meiring, Kelly Walter, and Alex Meiring; nine great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sue McConaha of Decatur, IN, Dolores Kahlig of Fort Recovery, and Jean Meiring of Fort Recovery; brother-in-law Donald Kahlig of Fort Recovery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, James McConaha, William McConaha, Jr., John McConaha, and Jerry McConaha.
Mary Helen was a 1942 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, and received a RN degree from Lima Memorial Hospital in 1945. She practiced nursing until her marriage, and then was a full-time wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Church, Fort Recovery, and the parish's Altar Sodality. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Mary Help of Christians Church, Fort Recovery, Frs. Ned Brown and Paul Wohlwend will concelebrate. Visitation will be held at the Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2017 and 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fort Recovery Foundation to support a scholarship for a graduating senior from Fort Recovery High School who aspires for a career in nursing.
