Melvin Bergman, 82, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died August 28, 2012 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, OH.
He was born May 17, 1930, in St. Henry, OH, to the late Harry and Pauline (Albers) Bergman. On August 2, 1952 he married Emerita (Frantz) Bergman and she died March 24, 1994. On August 16, 1996, he married Peg (Livingston) Roessner Bergman, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters - Linda (Mike) Schwieterman of Arcanum, OH, Peg (Bill) Werling of Coldwater, OH, Carol Bergman of St. Henry, OH, Charmaine (Don) Klosterman of Coldwater, OH, and Diane (Dale) Roessner of Coldwater, OH; a son - Ted (Barb) Bergman of Fort Recovery, OH; a step daughter - Deb (Rick) Faller of Roswell, GA; three step sons - Bob (Cindy) Roessner of Fort Recovery, OH, Mike (Sharon) Roessner of Fort Recovery, OH, and Dave (Janet) Roessner of Fort Recovery, OH; two sisters - Margie Vogel of Coldwater, OH, and Elsie (Roscoe) Timmerman of Fort Recovery, OH; two brothers - Jack (Jean) Bergman of St. Henry, OH, and Floyd (Joan) Bergman of Fort Recovery, OH; 29 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law - Kathryn Bergman of Fort Recovery, Mercedes Bergman of Fort Recovery, OH, Pat (Jerry) Bruggeman of Greenville, OH, and Janet Ingman of Portland, IN; three brothers-in-law - Norb (Jackie) Frantz of Union City, IN, Clete Bettinger of Coldwater, OH, and Ed Livingston of Indian Lake, OH.
Deceased are four brothers, Ralph, Bob, Walter, and Lavern Bergman; two sisters, Ruth Finch, and Betty Jean Brockman; and in-laws, Mary Bergman, Dr. Robert Finch, Lucille Bergman, Cy Brockman Sr., Norb Vogel, Martha (Ted) Kunkler, Millie Lee, and Norma Bettinger.
He was a 1948 graduate of Fort Recovery High School.
He was employed as a meat cutter at VonderHaars and also retired from farming.
He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Fort Recovery American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Fort Recovery Gun Club, all of Fort Recovery. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe, Ohio and its Men's Society.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 am Saturday at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at St. Joseph Cemetery, St. Joe, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Friday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Saturday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
