Paul F. Keller, 87, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died on May 7, 2015 at his residence.
He was born May 15, 1927, in Sharpsburg, OH, to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Clune) Keller. On August 16, 1951, he married the late Berdella (Schmitt) Keller, who died January 11, 2003.
Surviving are five sons, Don (Sandy) Keller of Fort Recovery, OH, Steven (Jane) Keller of New Weston, OH, Gerard (Charlotte St. Myers) Keller of Fort Recovery, OH, David (Kathy) Keller of Fort Recovery, OH, and Paul W. (Carol) Keller of Maria Stein, OH; two daughters, Ann (Jerry) Wendel of New Weston, OH and Janet (John) Rindler of Burkettsville, OH; a sister, Mary (Bill) Woeste of Coldwater, OH; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rita Keller of Dayton, OH; two in-laws, Rosie (Ed) Bulcher of Rossburg, OH and Dorothy Schmitt of St. Henry, OH.
Deceased are his siblings, Dorothy Engle, Robert Keller, Ed Keller, Alvin Keller, Bill Keller, Ray Keller, Mildred Bolton, and a grandson, Andrew Keller.
He was a 1945 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the former New Idea, Coldwater and was also a farmer.
Paul was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 6515, the American Legion Post 345, serving as the Chaplain since 1973, the Ohio Progressive Sportsman Club, and the Fort Recovery Gun Club, all of Fort Recovery. Compassionate about helping others, he served as a volunteer for the State of the Heart Hospice, the Mercer County Cancer Association and the American Red Cross. Paul was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, OH, where he belonged to the church's Men's Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, building bird houses, and putting together puzzles. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00-7:00 pm Sunday and 9:00-9:45 am Monday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. An American Legion and V.F.W. prayer service will be held 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
