Ralph P. Staugler, 90, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died on March 12, 2014, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, Ohio. He was born September 18, 1923, in Celina, OH, to the late Frank Staugler and the late Nora (Bertke) Staugler. On May 22, 1947, he married Virginia E. (Oberlander) Staugler, who died May 4, 1992. Surviving are two daughters - Connie (Bob) Borgeson of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada and Kathy Moreland of Cornelius, NC; two sons - Rich (Marlene) Staugler of Portland, OR and Chuck (Lucy) Staugler of Fort Recovery, OH; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law - Helen Staugler of Coldwater, OH; in-laws - Bert Miller of Celina, OH and Jay (Connie) Oberlander of Port Charlotte, FL; and a special friend - Mildred "Mic" Mendenhall of Coldwater, OH. Deceased are four brothers, Richard Staugler, Harold Staugler, Dick "Werner" (Genevieve) Staugler, and Lester (Joan) Staugler; a sister, Viola (Quinn) Hagedorn, and an in-law, Helen Brinley. He was a 1941 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, Fort Recovery, Ohio and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also previously owned and operated the former St. Clair Mills, Fort Recovery, Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion Post, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, all of Fort Recovery. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and watching various high school sports. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, Ohio, Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery, Ohio. Calling is 3:00 pm-8:00 pm Friday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Saturday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice or Fort Recovery Athletic Boosters.
