Thomas "Tom" W. Galdeen

Thomas "Tom" W. Galdeen, 66, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born on September 19, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Kenneth and Peggy (Irwin) Galdeen.

Tom is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beth (Steinbrunner) Galdeen, whom he married on August 15, 1980; his children, Matt (Tami) Galdeen of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Chris (Lauren) Galdeen of Troy, Ohio; his grandchildren, Sean, Mara, Reid, and Lila Galdeen and Drake, Emily, and Caleb Galdeen; his siblings, Pam (Craig) Cramer of Delaware, Ohio, and Kenny (Mary) Galdeen of Lebanon, Ohio; his niece and nephews, Chris (Fiancé, Sarah Zabka) Miller, Evan Galdeen, and Brooke (Charlie) Jackson; and his in-laws, Vern (Joann) Steinbrunner of Fort Recovery, Dan (Linda Evans) Steinbrunner of Hudson, Ohio, Steve (Linda) Steinbrunner of Coldwater, Kathy (Tom) Stammen of Burkettsville, Bob (Joyce) Steinbrunner of St. Henry, Dave (Cindy) Steinbrunner of Fort Recovery, Joan (Albert) Albers of St. Henry, Charlie Rose of St. Henry, Mary (Steve) Watercutter of Cranberry, Ohio, and Barb (Dwight) Cline of Russiaville, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Teresa Steinbrunner; and in-laws, Tina Rose and Jim Steinbrunner.

Tom was a 1974 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. He received his associates degree in architectural engineering from ITT Technical Institute in Dayton. He retired from Poseidon Barge in Berne, Indiana, where he worked as a mechanical engineer. Tom was a member of the Fort Recovery United Methodist Church, the Fort Recovery Athletic Boosters, and was a past member of the Park Board.

Tom enjoyed coaching the Fort Recovery High School baseball teams, fishing, golfing with his sons and grandson, and going on bike rides and long walks with his wife. He shared a love of cars with his grandchildren, going to car shows, and always having extra Hot Wheel cars to give to them. Above all, Tom truly cherished all the moments he was able to share with his family, especially his sons and their families.

Tom was an organ and tissue donor for transplantation and research purposes. His legacy will live on for years to come and will save and enhance many people's lives.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Guests may visit with Tom's family on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
